With a goal of filling the forum, Hudbay and local municipalities are co-sponsoring Friday’s Flin Flon Bomber game.
Dubbed Hockey Night in the North, the game will see the Flin Flon Bombers face off against the Weyburn Red Wings. The puck drops at 7:30 pm on Friday, Jan. 29 at the Whitney Forum.
Flin Flon Mayor Cal Huntley announced the event at the Jan. 19 council meeting, noting that the City of Flin Flon, along with the municipalities of Creighton and Denare Beach and Hudbay, had teamed up to make the hockey game free to the public that night.
The Bombers have been rising steadily in the SJHL ranks since early December, winning 15 of their last 17 outings. Currently fourth in the conference, the Bombers are only five points behind Weyburn, who stand in second tied with Melfort.
Hockey Night in the North will give up to 1,700 fans the chance to cheer on the team.
“We want to fill the stands,” said Huntley.
