If you have been affected as much as I have by the total desperation of the poor victims of the recent tsunami in Asia and wonder what just one person can do, well here may be your answer. I truly believe that something good always comes out of disaster or misfortune and perhaps this is an opportunity for the people of the world to come together as one. Forget about the differences in race, colour or religion and start caring for people as people. You CAN make a difference. The Canadian Red Cross is taking donations, large and small, and they can be mailed to: 1111 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3G OS8; credit card: 204-983-7330. According to Winnipeg Red Cross, the response from Manitobans has been fabulous. World Vision Canada is also taking donations large and small: cheques can be sent to Box 2500, Mississauga, Ontario, L5M 2H2; credit cards to 1-800-844-7993 or on the web at www.worldvision.ca/gifts. Have a great start to the New Year by helping someone you don't even know! Donation Match Meanwhile, the Canadian government has announced that it will match dollar-for-dollar donations from Canadians to the tsunami relief efforts given to Save the Children Canada. Donations will be matched retroactive to Dec. 26, 2004. There is no ceiling on the amount of donations the government will match. Donations to Save the Children Canada may be made by calling 1-800-668-5036 or logging onto www.savethechildren. ca
