More of Flin Flon's health care services are under one roof. The NOR-MAN Regional Health Authority (NRHA) has quietly opened its Primary Health Care Centre in the former Community Hall parking lot. "Through the Primary Health Care Centre, residents can tap into a range of health and community services simply by dropping in," said NRHA spokesperson Corliss Patterson. "This is an example of how we can strengthen families and build communities by establishing one-stop, convenient and accessible health service centres." The 52-room facility opened to the public on Jan. 10, with a ceremonial grand opening expected to take place around the beginning of March. About 30 health care employees work out of the building, providing services such as Mental Health, Public Health, Health Promotion and the Travel Health Program. It's also where the Community Nurse Resource Centre is based. Amid the many offices are examination rooms, meeting rooms, a conference room and an instruction kitchen, which will be used to teach healthy diet practices to diabetics and others. A private company constructed the building and is leasing it to the NRHA. The NRHA will continue to utilize 50 Church St., beneath the Personal Care Home, and 84 Church St., the former Community Nurse Resource Centre, for other purposes.
