A group of HBMS workers celebrated a significant milestone Friday Ñ 25 years on the job. The Company awarded this year's 25-year employees with watches for their achievement during a formal ceremony at the R.H. Channing Auditorium. "It's really something very special when people work for that period of time at one company," said Dale Powell, senior vice-president of corporate affairs. "What a significant achievement it is for people to have put in 25 years, many of them with no lost time accidents for their entire career. "It's people like this group and the ones that went ahead of them that have really made our company successful, and we all owe a great deal not only to the watch recipients, but to the spouses of the watch recipients who supported them over all of those years." In this day and age, it's not common for people to remain at a single company for such a span. Powell feels HBMS has been successful in that regard thanks in part to the appeal of the Flin Flon area. "It's been a stable company in terms of operations, and the community itself has really been something that people have grown to love once they've been here for a while," he said. "Probably half the people who received watches, when they first joined the Company, expected they would have been working there for two or three years and then move on."
