Stores were restocking birthday candles yesterday as a longtime Flin Flonner celebrated an impressive milestone. Marg Ferg turned 100 years young surrounded by family and friends at the Northern Lights Manor, which she calls home. Born on Aug. 5, 1904, in Arden, Manitoba, Marg moved to Flin Flon in 1936, where she raised two sons, Stan and Ken, and one daughter, Helen. Fergie, as her close friends call her, is proud to say she has seven grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren. She spent most of her earlier years raising her family, but also found time to enjoy a job baking pastries for the Co-op coffee bar. Among the well-wishers on Marg's special day were Flin Flon Mayor Dennis Ballard and MLA Gerard Jennissen. The Reminder would also like to extend a very hearty "Happy birthday" to Marg, a true Flin Flon pioneer.
