March rolled in like a lion and stayed that way. Hapnot Collegiate students were busy competing, travelling and inspiring. We Day What can draw 15,000 screaming students into an arena ready to have an amazing time? If you said Justin Bieber you're right, but also We Day. You can't buy a ticket to We Day _ you earn a ticket. We Day was a day filled with motivational speakers such as Martin Sheen, Mia Farrow and motivational talks from the brothers who founded We Day, Mark and Craig Kielburger. In between motivational talks the crowd was kept pumped with performances from Hedley, Karl Wolfe and Shawn Desman. Imagine 15,000 students leaving the Credit Union Centre in Saskatoon ready to act locally in order to make a change globally. It is the movement of our time and it was our hope as chaperones that students would leave here inspired to make a difference. Individually we can make a huge impact. This has been proven by Gandhi, Martin Luther King and Mark Zuckerberg. Now imagine a group of individuals with the same goal of changing this world! This is a yearly event that should be worked into the school system so that every child can possibly find the spark that ignites their flame for positive change. Winter Camping The grade 11 and 12 phys-ed class went out to McLeods point for an overnight winter camping trip. James Dumenko was the teacher. According to Assistant Superintendent Dean Grove, who skied out to visit the winter camp: All seemed in good spirits and in good shape. They were just digging out the quinzees around 5:30 when we arrived. Trip over had been good. We managed to keep the KFC hot until it arrived through some creative packing, and they slurped that down pretty quickly. No calls overnight to evacuate anyone, and temp was -15 with some light snow (windchill -19, calling for high of -11 with light snow), so they had a good day to return.
