It is almost that time of year again - October 31 - Halloween! Once again parents are reminded of safety tips for the young ones. Go trick or treating with your child or make sure they go with friends. Use make-up instead of masks, as a mask can cut off a child's vision. Check the length of the costume to make sure they will not be tripping and falling over them. Make costumes of light coloured materials and add reflective strips so that they can be seen by drivers. Have them go down one side of the street and cross at the corner, rather than going back and forth from house to house. Remind your child not to go into anyone's house or car. Remind your child not to eat any treats before they get home. Go through all of the treats to ensure they are safe and the packages haven't been tampered with. Throw out any wrapped candy. Stay alert for any children that are in trouble and report any problems to the police immediately. DRIVERS Please pay extra attention to your driving on Halloween Night. Children sometimes forget the safety rules with the excitement of Halloween and dart onto the road without looking both ways. Drive slowly and take into consideration the slippery roads. Have a Safe Halloween!
