Submitted by Habitat 53 Chapter The Habitat 53 Chapter of Habitat for Humanity in Flin Flon recently held an information meeting. Chair Ted Elliott reported Habitat is working toward building a home for a low-income working family to purchase. They not only buy the home but they put in 350 to 500 hours of time in building the home and community service. The Family Selection Committee is holding an information meeting on Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. at the City Hall Council Chambers as they work through the process of selecting a family to purchase the home. Elliott said the biggest challenge is fundraising, with a ReStore open Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. until the end of October at the armoury site, a white party at The Unwinder Oct. 6, a coffee house at Creighton Community Hall Oct. 13 and an ongoing penny drive and t-shirt sales. Elliott said they are also looking for volunteers to help with a variety of jobs and those interested can call him at 688- 0052. He said plans are to build the first home next year.
