A gunman who shot through the closed door of a Norway House Cree Nation home late Saturday night, wounding a 23-year-old man and his three-year-old son, remained at large Monday RCMP are refusing to identify the victims. Cpl. Miles Hiebert, a media relations spokesman for 'D' Division in Winnipeg, said Sunday that 'initial investigation indicates that an unknown male wearing winter clothing with his face covered attended a residence and knocked on the door.' 'When a male resident answered the door, the suspect produced a firearm,' he said. 'The resident shut the door, and the suspect fired a number of shots through the closed door before fleeing the scene.' Norway House RCMP were dispatched to the scene around 11:30 p.m. Treatment The wounded man, whom media reports describe as a long-distance truck driver, and his son were both transported 'to Winnipeg for treatment of non-life threatening injuries,' Hiebert said. Both victims were shot in the lower body, police said. The man's wife is reportedly a nurse. It's not known how many people were in the house at the time of the shooting or how many live in the house. Norway House RCMP, with the assistance of 'D' Division major crimes services and the RCMP forensic identification unit continued to investigate, Hiebert said. _ John Barker, Thompson Citizen
