Jonathon Naylor Editor A driving force behind the northern Manitoba arts scene will receive the province's highest honour. Crystal Kolt of Flin Flon will be inducted into the Order of Manitoba this summer in honour of her many contributions to creative fields. 'I'm humbled and awed and excited,' she said. 'We're all working so hard to shine a light on this part of Canada, and I feel so strongly about doing that.' Kolt, director of the Flin Flon Community Choir and coordinator of the Flin Flon Arts Council, will join 13 other recipients in Winnipeg on July 12. Lt.-Gov. Philip Lee, the chancellor of the order, will present the awards at the Manitoba Legislature. Surprising Making the honour all the more surprising is that Kolt does not know who nominated her. Other inductees include Mark Chipman, chair of the group that owns the Winnipeg Jets, and Randy Moffat, former CEO of Moffat Communications Ltd. At last week's city council meeting, Mayor George Fontaine mentioned Kolt's achievement. 'We give her our warmest wishes,' he said. Earlier this month, Kolt was in Winnipeg to accept a separate honour, the Marian Award from St. Mary's Academy, her alma mater.
