Jonathon Naylor Editor A ferocious grease fire spread from a stovetop to destroy a Cranberry Portage home. RCMP say there were no injuries as occupants were able to flee the flaming house last Wednesday, March 21. 'However, the structure and all contents were a total loss,' said Sgt. Eugene Yewchuk of the Cranberry Portage detachment. Sgt. Yewchuk said the initial investigation found no suspicious circumstances surrounding the blaze, which occurred on Alder Bay. 'Investigation revealed that the fire was caused as a result of a grease fire on the stove that started and got quickly out of control,' he said. Sgt. Yewchuk described the white structure as an older home. Cranberry Portage firefighters and Mounties were called to the scene at about 5 p.m. Sgt. Yewchuk did not immediately have an estimated dollar loss.
