New sprinkler system at Personal Care Home among upgrades

The Manitoba government is investing more than $4.2 million in upgrades and new equipment at three health facilities in Flin Flon, Health Minister Sharon Blady announced Tuesday.

The projects will include:

• nearly $1.4 million to install a new sprinkler system at the Flin Flon Personal Care Home;

• $1.2 million for an emergency power system upgrade at the Flin Flon General Hospital;

• nearly $820,000 to upgrade operating rooms at the Flin Flon General Hospital, including a replacement air handling unit, electrical upgrades, an improved layout and a new surgical bed;

• $150,000 for kitchen renovations at the Flin Flon Personal Care Home; and

• $20,000 to replace kitchen ducts and exhaust fans at Northern Lights Manor.

“The hospital and personal care homes in Flin Flon provide people with the quality care they need close to home,” Blady said in a news release.  “These investments will ensure important safety projects, new equipment and updated technology are provided to help maintain these facilities for years to come.”
