Going to the chapel and we’re… going to find a tenant

One of the most innovative housing projects in Flin Flon history is complete.

After five months of construction, the chapel of the former St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church is now a high-end apartment.

Owners Dave and Maxine Gunn initiated the project last year after transforming the other half of the building into their personal living quarters.

Several dozen people, many of them with connections to the former church on Whitney Street, have toured the apartment to observe the end result.

“They all like it,” says Maxine.

And what’s not to like? Teal and tan walls envelope a 1,600-sq-ft suite that includes two large bedrooms, an open kitchen and a storage nook accessible by pull-down ladder.

Elegant sconces along the walls help multiple windows provide illumination. Overhead, fans hang down from the 14-ft-plus ceilings.

Motion-sensor lights will lighten up the interior of a couple of closets. Future upgrades include a private deck and landscaping.

The Gunns have a renter moving into the apartment in the near future.
