Two dogs have been euthanized after attacking an eight-year-old girl on Queen Street, requiring her to be flown to Winnipeg for treatment, police say.
Cpl. Stacy Wiens of the Flin Flon RCMP said police were notified of the incident on March 16.
The child “received injuries to her face and hands after being attacked by dogs belonging to the next-door neighbour,” he said. “The attack was unprovoked as the child was walking between the two residences when the dogs had attacked her.”
Wiens said the dogs – a pit bull and a Jack Russell – were not tied up at the time and have since been euthanized.
He said the child was flown to Winnipeg for treatment of her injuries and has since returned.
Police conducted their investigation with the assistance of the city’s animal control officer, Wiens said.
