Gifts-for-needy program enters 20th year

2013 will mark the 20th year the Christmas Gift Program will be available in our community.

2013 will mark the 20th year the Christmas Gift Program will be available in our community.
The program objective is to provide an opportunity for parents / guardians to give their children a gift at Christmas when circumstances may otherwise prevent them from doing so.
The Friendship Centre will once again work in partnership with the Flin Flon Elks Lodge, with the Elks focusing on food hampers and the Friendship Centre on gifts, thereby maximizing resources.
This program is solely reliant on the community for cash and or/gift donations.
Historically, on average 100 families access the program, distributing over 300 gifts a year.
Our focus is to receive more gifts for children ages 13 to 17, male or female, as there is a large number of children in between those ages who access this program.
We are a charitable organization; a receipt can be issued for cash contributions.
The Christmas Gift Program will be delivered out of the Friendship Centre facility on Church St.  Dec. 16-24 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Parents / guardians register for an appointment to choose one gift per child and then wrap the gift to take it home and put it under the tree.
Parents / guardians can register their children from the ages of newborn to 17 years.
Registration starts Dec. 2-13. If you have any questions or would like to make a donation, please contact the Friendship Centre and 204-687-3900.
