Saskatchewan Provincial Ministers will meet by teleconference at 11 a.m. Monday, May 31 to discuss the increasing cost of gasoline at the pumps. "I am very pleased with the positive response we have received from provinces in response to our invitation to meet," Saskatchewan Minister responsible for Consumer Affairs Frank Quennell said. "The response indicates the importance provincial governments place on this issue for Canadian consumers. It also indicates a willingness to join together to create a national solution for a national problem." A few options Quennell would like his provincial counterparts to consider are the possibility of some form of GST relief, a national oversight body to provide long-term analysis and insight on the price of gasoline, and to explore the role of alternative energy sources.
