Residents with portable garages will pay an annual fee of $60 under a new by-law adopted by Flin Flon City Council. The by-law states that residents shall pay the fee for the construction, erection or placement of a portable garage until the unit is removed. "...I think the fee allows us to manage, initially, where these (garages) are going up, whether they're going up for six months, six years," said Councillor Cal Huntley at last week's Council meeting when the regulation was voted into law. Council passed the second and third readings of the by-law motion by a 5-1 margin, with Councillor Dave Kennedy opposing both times. Under the by-law, the term "portable garage" refers to a garage that could remain standing if its contents were removed.
