Jonathon Naylor Editor A garage blaze in Channing was one of three calls that kept Flin Flon firefighters busy last month, city council learned last week. Council reviewed the Fire Chief's report for January, which detailed each incident: Jan. 2, 7:51 AM: A call was received from 911 stating that there was a garage fire at Jones Square. Upon arrival, firefighters found a fully involved garage with vehicles, propane tanks, gasoline and other materials involved inside. They drafted water from the lake and extinguished the fire. The fire, which was very close to other structures, was contained to the garage. The approximate dollar loss was $100,000. The fire chief and 10 firefighters responded. Jan. 12, 7:20 PM: A call was received from 911 stating that there was a smoke smell inside a residence on Willow Crescent. Upon arrival, firefighters determined that the cause of the smell was from an overheated main breaker. The on-call officer and 15 firefighters responded. Jan. 19, 1:30 PM: A call was received stating that the ambulance required assistance. Upon arrival, firefighters assisted the ambulance with a patient. The on-call officer and three firefighters responded. The three calls in January 2012 compared to 10 calls in January 2011.
