Eight incidents kept Flin Flon firefighters busy throughout August, city council learned Tuesday.
Council reviewed the latest monthly fire chief`s report:
Aug. 3, 12:51 PM: A call was received from 911 stating there was smoke inside a home on First Avenue. Upon arrival, firefighters determined the cause was a fire inside the furnace. The electricity to the furnace was turned off and the home was ventilated. The fire chief and 10 firefighters responded.
Aug. 3, 11 AM: A call was received from the RCMP stating they required assistance at an accident on Main Street. Upon arrival, firefighters assisted with the incident. Two firefighters responded.
Aug. 8, 6:10 PM: A call was received by 911 stating there was a bush fire off the highway by Little Cliff Lake. Upon arrival, firefighters found a bush fire that they quickly extinguished. The on-call officer and 10 firefighters responded.
Aug. 17, 6:14 AM: A call was received from 911 stating the smoke alarms had activated inside a Tweedsmuir Street residence. Upon arrival, firefighters determined that the cause was a smoldering ashtray. The on-call officer and four firefighters responded.
Aug. 24, 10:30 AM: The fire chief in The Pas requested mutual aid assistance from the Flin Flon fire chief at a large fire just outside of Tolko Industries near The Pas. Three firefighters were sent in the fire chief’s truck to assist.
Aug. 26, 5:39 AM: A call was received from 911 stating the smoke detector inside a North Avenue residence was beeping, there was no smoke and the resident did not know what to do. Upon arrival, the on-call officer assisted the homeowner with the smoke detector. The on-call officer responded alone.
Aug. 26, 6:56 PM: A call was received from 911 stating the smoke detectors had activated inside a Green Street residence. Upon arrival, firefighters determined the cause was burnt food. The on-call officer and 13 firefighters responded.
Aug. 29, 7:11 PM: A call was received from 911 stating a residential fire alarm was activated inside a Tweedsmuir Street residence. Upon arrival, firefighters determined the alarm was false. The on-call officer and five firefighters responded.
