A furnace fire, a garbage fire and two false alarms kept Flin Flon firefighters busy last month. City council on Tuesday reviewed the fire chief's April report, which detailed the four incidents: April 6, 9:16 PM: A caller stated there was thick smoke inside a residence on Hill Street. Upon arrival the on-call officer found a fire inside the furnace had produced the smoke. The on-call officer and 11 firefighters responded. April 15, 7 PM: A caller stated a fire alarm was coming from a residence on Queen Street. The alarm was initiated by an alarm company and was determined to be false. The on-call officer and 13 firefighters responded. April 16, 3:50 PM: A caller on Prince Charles Place stated a neighbour was burning garbage in his rear yard. Upon arrival the fire chief found a small fire in the back yard that consisted only of clean wood. The homeowner was informed of the city bylaw against burning and immediately put out the fire. The fire chief responded alone. April 18, 3:05 PM: A caller stated there was a fire alarm coming from a residence on Terrace Avenue. Upon arrival firefighters determined the alarm was false. The fire chief and 11 firefighters responded.
