Dozens of people gathered at the Creighton Sportex yesterday for a family fun skate, kicking off a week-long series of events to commemorate National Addictions Awareness Week. Events continue today with a colouring contest with an awareness theme. The drawing will be distributed to local schools and also appears in today's Reminder on page 10. Wednesday will bring Crazy Hat Day. Both students and employees are encouraged to participate by wearing funny hats, with extra points to be awarded for hats with an addictions awareness theme. Phone CADAC at 688-8291 to register. The fun continues on Saturday with a youth dance at the R.H. Channing Auditorium from 7-10 p.m. Also during the week, one young person will be presented with the Healthy Youth Role Model Award. The award will go to an area student who abstains from drugs and alcohol and is involved in extracurricular activities.
