For the first time in three years, the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 73 is planning to host a full Remembrance Day parade and ceremony at the Flin Flon Community Hall.

The group has not held a fully-public ceremony since 2019, choosing instead to hold smaller, capacity-limited events in 2020 and 2021 in accordance with then-current COVID-19 guidelines.

Marchers will meet at 9:45 a.m. Nov. 11 at the Legion Hall on Hapnot Street, then will march at 10 a.m., marching behind RCMP south down Hapnot Street onto Fourth Avenue, then onto Hill Street past the Cenotaph at the Hundred Stairs. From there, the group will march to the community hall down First Avenue for the ceremony, which will include the laying of wreaths on the hall stage.

After the ceremony, attendees will move from the hall down Main Street to First Avenue, then back to the Legion hall for lunch, refreshments and the raising of the flag over the Legion hall.

The parade will include local organizations like the Flin Flon RCMP, Legion colour party and Legion members, veterans, Army Cadets, local youth groups and public representatives.

"We stress that ordinary citizens of all ages with no connection to the Legion or military are more than welcome. Most importantly, we hope to see more young people," reads a statement from the Legion branch.

"Do you have to be an experienced marcher? Absolutely not. Drill commands are given to ensure that the parade remains orderly and dignified, but your attendance is the important thing. Please join us in this tribute to those whose sacrifice have, and continue, to keep our great country free. It takes very little effort and means so much."
