The owner of a Main Street business is frustrated over continuous vandalism to her business. Over the weekend, the store front of Christie's Flowers was vandalized for the third time in the past few months, leaving owner Linda Lowe discouraged. "I'm just brokenhearted," she said. "I was going to put out a big Halloween display, but I'm not going to bother now. They win. I'm done." Before opening on Saturday morning, staff found that three flower pots and a decorative picket fence Ñ all attached to the building Ñ had been smashed, the debris littering the front of the store. "The picket fence was just splinters," said Lowe. "The sad thing is, we had so many people stop in and tell us how nice the display was." On two other occasions over the past few months, flower baskets hanging in front of Lowe's store have been ripped down. She did her best to remain positive after those episodes, hoping that they were isolated incidents. "It just frustrates me because, as Main Street businesses, we want to beautify Main Street," Lowe commented. The business owner said she would encourage other businesses looking to establish displays to make sure they may be taken inside after business hours. Not far down Main Street at Subway, owner Grant McLuckie said his business has also been vandalized in recent months. He said the hanging plants in front of the restaurant were ripped down three times, with the latest incident damaging one of the pots beyond repair. More recently, McLuckie found a small amount of bright orange spray paint on the front of his business. He also spotted the paint on other buildings on Main Street as well as a sign at Many Faces Park beside Super Thrifty Pharmacy. "It's frustrating," he said.
