Add another four cases of COVID-19 to the total count for Saskatchewan. The number of cases in the province has increased to 20, with four more presumptive cases reported March 19.

Three cases are related to travel, according to provincial health authorities, while one case sprang from close contact with a person who had already tested positive for COVID-19.

Out of cases reported in Saskatchewan, all but one person is well enough to self-isolate and self-monitor at home. One person, a presumptive case, is in hospital for reasons unrelated to COVID-19.

One of the four cases has been confirmed to be Dr. Allan Woo, the president of the Saskatchewan Medical Association (SMA). Woo confirmed he had tested positive in a statement released by the SMA March 19.

"The COVID-19 pandemic has hit home for me and my family. I was tested on Tuesday and the results came back positive on Wednesday night. I am at home and continue to monitor the situation closely," said Woo's statement.

"I have been self-isolating since Tuesday morning when I first noticed symptoms. At my practice, we rescheduled appointments and surgeries and we are communicating with patients I was in contact with. My sincere apologies for any distress this may cause."

Woo said he had attended a bonspiel in Edmonton from March 11-14, where he believed he may have contracted COVID-19. The bonspiel is an annual event for medical personnel, which Woo said attracts around 50 to 60 physicians from across western Canada annually. It is not known if any other positive cases have been related to the bonspiel, where any medical personnel who may have attended the event live and work or if others who attended are self-isolating.
