Former Flin Flonner praises pipelines in National Post

‘Steamy’ letter in Post

Newspaper readers across Canada learned how many Flin Flonners kept warm during winter nights of yesteryear.

In a letter to the editor published in the National Post on Nov. 24, former Flin Flonner Dick Robertson praises pipelines.

“No matter the weather, they bring us warmth from gas and oil, water for cleanliness and health and light (a wire is an energy pipeline) from a power plant,” wrote Robertson. “In my youth in Flin Flon, Man., they even delivered steam heat from the smelter.”

Robertson was referring to the fact that steam heat was once used to warm HBM&S (now Hudbay) facilities and company-sponsored facilities, including company housing.

Robertson now lives in Comox, BC.
