Foran Mining Corporation is pleased to announce that it has started a 4,500 metre drill program at the North Star Gold Project, west of Snow Lake. This is an advanced exploration project with initial underground development, sampling, and metallurgy completed last year. A Project Proposal for a mine was submitted to various provincial and federal regulatory bodies for review in early 2005. The current drill program represents the third major drill program carried out on the property which will be followed by another 4,500 to 9,000 metre program later in the year. The objective of this phase of drilling is to increase the resource potential and the tonnage of the existing ore resources. The first three most southern holes are being drilled to ensure that a proposed mill site will not be built upon any southern extension of the North Star vein system. The majority of the drilling will be focused on the northern extension of the North Star and West Vain zones discovered in the 2004 winter drilling program. In particular, the aim is to determine the depth extent of this new mineralization. From the 2004 program, this new extension to the north, has a strike length of at least 100 metres and is open to the north. This potential northern extension will also be tested in this program. A second 2005 drill exploration program, to follow, will focus on expanding targets developed from the current program as well as test the main Gold Rock vein structures on strike to the north and a new zone of gold mineralization (Middle Zone) found half way between the North Star northern extension and the Gold Rock Veins.
