Flin Flon RCMP are working to ensure crime-fighting resources are focused on areas the public deems most important. At yesterday's chamber of commerce meeting at the Friendship Centre, Cpl. Leslie Beck spoke on the police department's recent public consultations, the purpose of which were to identify the top concerns and possible solutions. "We can't be all things to all people all the time," she said, illustrating the need for a more focused approach. At the first of three public consultations in November, a cross-section of Flin Flonners identified vandalism, substance abuse, crime prevention and traffic offenses as their main areas of concern. Cpl. Beck noted that police are already putting more focus on those areas, mentioning DARE, a drug and alcohol education program the RCMP are operating in local schools. She encouraged the public to attend the final community consultation this Saturday, Feb. 5, at 7 p.m. at Flin Flon City Hall. The RCMP will also have a representative at the chamber's next general meeting on March 1. Cst. Nolan Suss is slated to deliver a presentation on counterfeit money and how it can be identified.
