Flin Flon School Division celebrates International Day of Pink

Promoting diversity and tolerance

Today marks International Day of Pink, and local schools are getting into the spirit.

Today at 3 pm, Ecole McIsaac School students will gather in the gym for performances from the school choir and local musician CC Trubiak. Seating for parents and other community members will be at 2:50 pm.

Over at Ruth Betts Community School, students are enjoying pink snacks, buying “stop bullying” bracelets and vying to become the class wearing the most pink. There will also be an afternoon assembly.

At Hapnot Collegiate, numerous students and staff members have dressed in pink to show their support, and members of the Equity and Social Justice/Gay Straight Alliance Club will be handing out pink cookies during breaks. The RCMP will also be stopping by to show their support this afternoon.

The International Day of Pink is an annual event across Canada designed to end bullying and foster tolerance.
