The Flin Flon school board is focusing renewed attention on school security.
At their meeting last week, trustees voted to approve $20,000 for improvements to alarm systems.
The board also referred the issue of school security to the Facilities and Grounds Committee for further discussion.
This came after École McIsaac School suffered its second break-in in as many months on Dec. 13.
RCMP said officers were on scene at 5:27 am that day, seven minutes after McIsaac’s alarm system sounded. By then, whoever had entered the school was gone.
In addition to breaking some surveillance cameras, the culprit or culprits discharged fire extinguishers.
It was not known whether the break-in was connected to an Oct. 24 incident in which someone shattered door glass to enter McIsaac and then dumped paint on the floor and some children’s artwork.
