The Rotary Club of Flin Flon hopes its $75,000 donation to the new Flin Flon General Hospital emergency department will encourage other organizations to support the project.
At last week’s Bollywood ER fundraiser, the club presented the first of three annual installments of $25,000 to the project.
“We see it as an important community project and something that’s going to help everyone,” said club president Kory Eastman. “So we felt we were in the position that we should try and provide the biggest assistance possible.”
Eastman added that the club would like to see other groups step forward to assist the project, which comes with a $22-million price tag – $2.2 million of which must be covered by private-sector fundraising.
The Rotary Club’s donation will cover 10 per cent of the $750,000 still owing on the fundraising tab.
