The convenience of weekly curbside pickup of recyclables will continue in Flin Flon on a reduced basis.
The Recycling Centre began testing weekly, rather than biweekly, pick-ups of recyclables in March 2015 to assess if weekly service would increase the number of homes using the program and recycling rates overall.
The trial ran for 30 weeks. Every Wednesday the Recycling Centre covered all of Flin Flon.
Several more homes began putting out red bags with recycling for pickup during the trial period. There were also streets where no one used the service.
The Recycling Centre will continue to provide the recycling pickups to the homes that have been using it. A list of the streets served is on the Recycling Centre website at www.flinflonrecycling.org and on the Flin Flon Recycling Facebook page.
New users are always welcome. Residents whose streets are not on the list can call the centre at
204-687-6169 to have their locations added.
Households can use the service by purchasing a red bag to put their recyclables in. Two more clear bags or boxes can be placed on the front curb with the red bag for pick up on Wednesday mornings.
Large cardboard can be flattened and placed beneath the bags.
Red bags each cost $3.50, which pays for the pick-up serwvice. They are available at the Gas Bar, Co-op, Eddie’s Family Foods, Super K Convenience, Pharmasave, Your Dollar Store With More, Flin Flon City Hall, Acklands-Grainger and the Recycling Centre.
