A condensed summary of calls to the Flin Flon RCMP for the week of Monday, May 2 to Sunday, May 8, as provided by the RCMP:
Monday, May 2
• Report of a phone being stolen after a mother was getting texts from her son’s phone saying her son would not be home even though her son was sitting right beside her.
• Report of a male experiencing mental health issues. Police and ambulance attended and escorted the male to Flin Flon General Hospital.
• Report of a 911 call from a local hotel. The call was deemed false.
• Report of a male believed to be intoxicated sleeping on a bench. Police checked on the male, who was not intoxicated, just having a nap.
• Report of a fight between two females while each were holding children in their arms. No charges laid, but Child and Family Services has been notified.
Tuesday, May 3
• Report of a male passed out on Main Street. Police attended and found him intoxicated and passed out. He was arrested and lodged.
• Report of a male sleeping on a bench on Main Street. He was awoken and told to leave.
• Report of a dispute between family members over keys to a vehicle.
Wednesday, May 4
• Police asked to assist Child and Family Services with a call to keep the peace. The peace was kept.
• Report of a suspect breaching a no-contact order. Police checks revealed no such order was in place.
• Report of an unruly patient at Flin Flon General Hospital becoming aggressive with staff and believed to be suffering from mental health issues. The male was located, assessed by hospital staff and released.
Thursday, May 5
• Report of an intoxicated person expressing suicidal ideations to a crisis line. The male was lodged and voluntarily attended Flin Flon General Hospital for a mental health assessment the next morning.
• Report of downed power lines on Hill Street.
• Report of a youth expressing suicidal ideations. The youth was transported to Flin Flon General Hospital for a mental health assessment.
• Report of an elderly female who was missing. She was found the next morning and later assessed at Flin Flon General Hospital.
Friday, May 6
• Report of an intoxicated male banging on door and yelling. Police located the male, who was arrested and lodged.
• Police asked to assist ambulance for a report of an unknown situation. Police attended and learned a female had been attacked by a cat, causing extensive injuries. She was transported to Flin Flon General Hospital for treatment.
• Report of a 911 call from a residence during which only buttons being pushed could be heard. It turned out a child was playing with the phone.
• Police asked to attend Flin Flon General Hospital for a report of an unruly patient. Police attended and patient left on their own accord.
• Report of a male driving a snow groomer across properties and down the roads, causing damage to same. Police attended and learned the driver does not hold a valid driver’s licence. Charges laid under the Highway Traffic Act.
Saturday, May 7
• While on patrol, police located a very intoxicated male in the Flintoba Shopping Centre parking lot. He was arrested and lodged under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act.
• While police were dealing with another matter, a very intoxicated male approached them for a chat. Due to his intoxication level, the male was arrested and lodged under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act.
• Report of two vehicles being keyed while parked at the drivers’ place of employment.
• Report of a male at Manitoba Liquor Control Commission buying alcohol despite being on conditions not to possess alcohol. He was located with alcohol in hand, arrested and will be charged with breaching his conditions. The original subject of complaint was drinking with another male who was on the same conditions. The second male was also arrested and will be charged with breaching his conditions.
• Report of a domestic disturbance at a residence. Police attended and arrested a male. The matter is under investigation.
• Report of a male sleeping in an ATM vestibule at a local bank. Police attended and located the male, who was intoxicated. He was arrested and lodged.
Sunday, May 8
• Report of two apparent youths trying to hitchhike while running away from home. Police attended and spoke to both suspects, a male and a female. The male suspect was found to have an outstanding warrant for his arrest, and was arrested. The female was turned over to her parents.
• Report of an intoxicated male at a local gas station. Police attended but the male was not located.
• Report of an ex-girlfriend allegedly circling around her ex-boyfriend’s parents’ residence.
• Report of a noise that sounded like a gun being fired in a residential neighbourhood. No evidence to support that a gun was fired.
• Report of damage to a vehicle after the wind had blown a fence on top of it.
