Flin Flon RCMP report: Break-ins and a stolen snowmobile

A condensed summary of calls to the Flin Flon RCMP for the period of Tuesday, Feb. 16 to Monday, Feb. 22, as provided by the RCMP: Tuesday, Feb. 16 • Report of an intoxicated male refusing to leave a South Hudson Street residence.

A condensed summary of calls to the Flin Flon RCMP for the period of Tuesday, Feb. 16 to Monday, Feb. 22, as provided by the RCMP:

Tuesday, Feb. 16

• Report of an intoxicated male refusing to leave a South Hudson Street residence. Police attended and lodged him until sober.

• Report of a hit-and-run on Main Street.

Wednesday, Feb. 17

• Report of a fight between two brothers in progress, and involving bear spray, at a Second Avenue residence. Police attended and spoke with all involved. Both males were taken to be treated at Flin Flon General Hospital. After being cleared, one male was lodged in cells until sober. Matter is under investigation.

• Report of an intoxicated male inside an Aspen Grove residence. Police attended and were advised the male had left.

Thursday, Feb. 18

• Report of a break-and-enter that had occurred at a Lake Street residence. Police attended the scene. Matter is under investigation.

• Report of an unwanted person at Hillcrest Avenue residence. Police attended and learned a consensual fight between two brothers occurred the previous day. The homeowner wanted his brother out of his house. The brother agreed this was a good idea and moved out. 

• Report of an intoxicated male at a Main Street bank. Police attended and spoke with the male, who was cold and had no place to go. Police provided accommodations for the evening.

• Report of a group of youths hanging around Flin Flon General Hospital with no reason to be there. Staff told them to leave the area, which they did. A short time later, staff went to ensure they had left and noticed spray paint on the building. Matter is still under investigation.

• Police patrolling Main Street located an intoxicated male. He became belligerent with police. Police attempted to take the male to his girlfriend’s house, but upon arrival she turned off the lights and refused to answer the door. The male slept in a cell until sober. 

Friday, Feb. 19

• Report of a disturbance at a Windsor Avenue residence. Police attended and learned a fight had occurred involving a mother and daughters. All involved did not want charges and were separated for the night. 

• Report of an assault on Hill Street. Police attended and lodged a female until sober. Matter is under investigation.

• Report of two separate thefts from vehicles on Green Street. 

• Report of a suspicious person near the hydro station on the Perimeter Highway. Police attended and spoke with the male, who was out for a nature walk. Police advised this was probably not the best place for a nature walk, and the male agreed. He left the area without issue.

• While patrolling Main Street, police located an intoxicated male passed out in front of a business. He was taken to Flin Flon General Hospital to be assessed. Once cleared, he was provided a room in cells.

• Report of an intoxicated male at a Main Street business. Police attended and spoke with the male, who said he was assaulted but could not identify who did it. He advised he did not want to press charges. He then asked if police could take him to cells because it was cold and he had no place to go. Police were able to assist with this request and the male was lodged until sober.

• Report of an intoxicated male walking in the middle of South Hudson Street. He was, however, wearing his reflective jacket. Police patrolled the area but were not able to locate him.

• Report of an intoxicated male sleeping underneath the stairs at a Church Street business. Police attended and located him. He advised that his friends had put him there to sleep it off but was more than happy to come with police to a warm cell.

• Report of an intoxicated male who went into a Main Street business asking to have the police come get him. Police attended and met with the male, who was cold and had no place to go. He was lodged until sober. 

Saturday, Feb. 20

• A traffic stop on Ross Street ended with a male driver being charged for driving while disqualified and having no liability insurance. He stated he was driving since everyone else with him was too intoxicated. The traffic stop ended with all having to take a taxi anyway.

• Report of a disturbance at a Tweedsmuir Street residence. Police attended and spoke with the homeowners. Police were attempting to leave as all appeared okay when an intoxicated female followed police outside, yelling and swearing. She was arrested and lodged until sober to prevent further calls.

• Report of a disturbance at a First Avenue residence. Police located an intoxicated male who was involved in a fight. He immediately became belligerent with police. He was treated for his injuries and provided accommodations for the evening.

• While patrolling Main Street, police located an intoxicated male. He asked police to take him in for the night, as he again had no place to go. Police were able to comply.

• Report of an intoxicated male sleeping inside a Main Street bank. Police attended and lodged him until sober.

Sunday, Feb. 21

• Report of a break-and-enter to a Hapnot Street residence. Police attended and spoke with the homeowner. Nothing was taken from the residence. Police assisted the resident with securing the window to prevent any further persons from coming in.

• Report of a stolen snowmobile on Scarth Street. Matter is under investigation.

• Report of children playing in abandoned buildings near South Main Street. Police attended and could not see any sign entry was gained. 

• Report of an attempted theft from a Highway 10A business. Police attended and located the male suspect. He was arrested for outstanding warrants and released with a court date.

Monday, Feb. 22

• Report of an intoxicated male who went into a Main Street business asking for police to come get him. Police attended and found him sleeping in the lobby. He became really upset at the sight of police and was upset with whoever called on him. He was lodged until sober.
