A condensed summary of calls to the Flin Flon RCMP for the period of Tuesday, Feb. 23 to Monday, Feb. 29, as provided by the RCMP:
Tuesday, Feb. 23
• Report of a break-and-enter in progress at a Main Street business. Police arrived a short time later but the male had since fled on foot. Foot patrols of the area did not locate the male. A suspect has been identified and an arrest warrant issued.
• Report of smoke smell inside a Main Street bank. Police attended and called the fire department to check it out. The smell was determined to be coming from a nearby house chimney.
• Police received a tip that a male wanted on a Canada-wide warrant was outside a Hapnot Street residence. Members conducting a foot patrol at the time located him. He was taken into custody and is now facing an additional charge of resisting arrest. Police thank the public for their assistance in this matter.
• Report of an elderly female who appeared lost on Main Street. Police attended and were familiar with the female. She was given a ride home.
• Report of suicide threats at a North Avenue residence.
Wednesday, Feb. 24
• Report of an erratic driver on Parkway Boulevard. The vehicle had gone through an area where kids were playing hockey on the street and fishtailed around the corner. Police located the vehicle and spoke with the registered owner. No charges at this time.
• Report of an intoxicated male laying in the middle of South Hudson Street. Police attended and located the male, who was taken home to a sober adult.
• Report of an erratic driver on Highway 10 south of Flin Flon. The driver had passed another vehicle then began to slow and speed up several times. Police located the vehicle within city limits and spoke with the driver. No charges laid.
Thursday, Feb. 25
• Report of an assault with a weapon at Aspen Grove. Matter under investigation.
• Report of an intoxicated male and female walking in the middle of Ross Street. Police attended and the group was now made up of three, the new addition being a sober person who lived around the corner. The sober friend agreed to take the two intoxicated people home for the night.
Friday, Feb. 26
• Report of an assault at a local bar. A female bartender was assaulted by an intoxicated female patron. The intoxicated female was located hanging around out front of the bar. She was arrested and taken to cells until sober. She was later released to appear in court at a later date.
• Report of a theft of a motor vehicle from a Douglas Street residence. The vehicle was located in the Portage la Prairie area after a pursuit with police. Matter under investigation.
• Report of an intoxicated male falling on the road on Third Avenue. Police located the male and provided him a place to sleep for the afternoon.
• Report of an intoxicated male sleeping in the stairwell of the Whitney Forum. Police attended and relocated the male to cells for the rest of the day.
• Numerous reports of a group of possibly intoxicated youths on Adams Street. The youths at one point threw rocks at a residence and went through a vehicle. Police attended and conducted vehicle and foot patrols of the area. The youths were not located.
• Police patrolling Third Avenue observed two males fighting in a parking lot. Police broke up the fight and an intoxicated male was taken to cells to cool off and sober up. A sober male was spoken to. The males were arguing over a girl, which led to a fist fight.
Saturday, Feb. 27
• Report of a disturbance at a Second Avenue residence. Police attended and arrested a male, who was lodged and issued a $673.65 fine for consuming liquor as a minor.
• Report of a disturbance at a Phelan Avenue residence. Police attended and spoke with both people involved. Police gave a male a ride to another house for the night to separate them.
• Report of an intoxicated male sleeping in the lobby of a Main Street bank. Police attended and arrested the male. He said it was cold outside and he forgot how to get a hold of police for a room.
• Report of a male and two females fighting on Main Street. Police attended and located the male and one female walking. It was learned they were fighting with the female’s mother over beer. The male was arrested on an outstanding warrant and both were taken to cells until sober.
• Police patrolling Third Avenue observed an intoxicated male walking in the middle of the road. He was arrested but refused to give his name. He attempted to run away from police but did not make it past the front of the police vehicle. He was lodged in cells until sober.
Sunday, Feb. 28
• Report of a disturbance at a local bar. Police attended and were told a group of four males were trying to start a fight but had since left the area.
• Report of a suspicious person parked in a back alley parking lot off Main Street. Police attended and spoke with the male driver, who was on the phone with a friend.
• Report of a structure fire at a Highway 10 business. Police responded with the fire department and EMS. Matter under investigation.
• Report of an open door to a First Avenue business. Police attended and cleared the building, setting the alarm off themselves. The property rep was contacted and it is not believed entry was gained to the building by anyone other than police.
• Report of a fight at a Hapnot Street residence. Police attended and spoke with the intoxicated, bloody males. The males told police they were practicing mixed martial arts. Police were not sure this was true, so to prevent any further calls, and for the safety of both involved, the male who did not reside at the residence was lodged until sober.
Monday, Feb. 29
• Report of suicide threats at a Hapnot Street residence.
• Report of an assault at an Aspen Grove residence. Police attended and spoke with the complainant. A male was later arrested and is to appear in court.
