During the Christmas week, the Flin Flon RCMP were kept unusually busy. At a time of year that is meant for family and getting together with friends, there were numerous assaults. There were four incidents of spousal assaults resulting in four people being charged. The charges range from assault to assaults with weapons, unlawful confinement and breach of court orders. Early on Christmas morning a young teenage girl was picked up by a passerby who noticed that she was not properly dressed for the weather. She did not have on footwear or a jacket. The windchill made the temperature -48C. When the kind citizen picked her up he noticed she had been assaulted. The young teen spent the night in hospital. It was later learned that two other teenage girls were responsible for the assault and for throwing the victim out into the cold. Curfew checks for people on curfews from the court resulted in 10 charges. Police attended to false alarms at local businesses. A window was broken at the Movie Gallery on Main Street but entry was not gained. An outer pane of a window on Green Street was noticed to be broken but it is not sure when it actually happened. New Year's is fast approaching - let's make sure it is a safe and happy one for all. Happy New Year's from the Flin Flon RCMP Detachment.
