A Flin Flon man was arrested Wednesday morning after allegedly discharging a long-barrel firearm inside a Centre Street home.
RCMP said there were no injuries and no immediate indication the accused pointed the firearm at the complainant, who was inside the residence at the time.
Upon receiving the report at 6:46 am, police “attended and established containment” at the residence, said Sgt. Shayne Smith of the Flin Flon RCMP.
Mounties from Flin Flon, Creighton and Cranberry Portage surrounded
the home.
Once the suspect learned officers were present, he exited the house on his own accord and surrendered
to police “without incident,” Smith said.
Police arrested the suspect at about 9 am, a little over two hours after the report came in, Smith said.
The accused, a 38-year-old man, has been charged with careless use of a firearm, discharge of a firearm while being reckless, and unsafe storage of firearms.
Smith said police seized from the home a gun locker containing firearms. All were legal, long-barrel firearms.
The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Flin Flon Provincial Court at a later date.
RCMP continue to investigate the incident.
