For generations, Jim and Jeanne Fell helped form the foundation of Flin Flon’s Scouts program.
Last fall, Scouts Canada awarded Jim and Jeanne certificates and pins in honour of the 65 years of service each has given to the Scouts movement.
Jim started his Scouting career in Melfort in 1950, volunteering as a Cub and Scout leader. He also took on the job of writing a Scouting news report for the Melfort paper.
That same year, more than 6,400 km away, Jeanne became a volunteer with a Scouts group in her native England.
Jim and Jeanne met at World Scout Jamboree, an international Scouting event. In 1965 they married and started a life together in Flin Flon, where Jim now lived.
Together they volunteered with the Flin Flon Scouts program until its demise in 2015.
“I’m a real believer [in Scouts],” Jeanne told The Reminder in 2012. “I think it’s great.”
