Six calls kept the Flin Flon Fire Dept. busy in February, city council heard Tuesday.
The monthly fire chief’s report detailed the following incidents:
Feb. 6, 4:44 pm: A call from 911 stated the alarms were activated inside a Boam Street residence. Upon arrival, firefighters determined the alarm was false. The on-call officer and seven firefighters.
Feb. 12, 9:14 am: A call from 911 stated a Tweedsmuir Street home was filled with smoke. Upon arrival, firefighters ventilated the home. The smoke was caused by a faulty toaster. The on-call officer and five firefighters responded.
Feb. 19, 3:42 pm: A call from 911 stated the alarms were activated inside a Tamarack Drive residence. Upon arrival, firefighters determined the alarm was caused by burnt food. The on-call officer and nine firefighters responded.
Feb. 23, 12:33 am: A call from the RCMP stated the cleaning lady inside a Flin Flon bank thought she could smell smoke. Upon arrival, firefighters determined the alarm was false. The on-call officer and seven firefighters responded.
Feb. 28, 9:53 am: A call from 911 stated there was a fire at The Tire Shop located on Highway 10. Upon arrival, firefighters found a fully involved structure with flames exiting the north side of the building. The RCMP, Stittco Energy, Manitoba Hydro, mutual aid and the ambulance were called. The Office of the Fire Commissioner was called for the fire investigation. The on-call officer and 17 firefighters responded.
