The Flin Flon Fire Dept. responded to 13 calls in October, the latest fire chief’s report notes: Friday, Oct. 2, 5:58 am: A call from 911 stated the fire alarms were activated inside a Hill Street residence.

Friday, Oct. 2, 5:58 am: A call from 911 stated the fire alarms were activated inside a Hill Street residence. Upon arrival, firefighters determined the alarm was caused by burnt food. The on-call officer and nine firefighters responded.

Sunday, Oct. 4, 11:36 am: A call from 911 stated the fire alarms were activated inside a Wright Avenue residence. Upon arrival, firefighters determined the cause of the alarm was from drywall dust. The on-call officer and 12 firefighters responded.

Monday, Oct. 5, 4:42 am: A call from 911 stated a vehicle was on fire on Highway 10 by Northern Bulk. Upon arrival, firefighters found a tire fire that was quickly extinguished. The on-call officer and 13 firefighters responded.

Monday, Oct. 5, 4:50 pm: A call from 911 stated there was a kitchen fire on South Hudson Street. Upon arrival, firefighters noted the fire was out and contained to the stovetop. The on-call officer and 11 firefighters responded.

Saturday, Oct. 10, 7:11 pm: A call from 911 stated the alarms were sounding inside a Scarth Street residence. Upon arrival, firefighters found the cause of the alarm was burnt food. The on-call officer and six firefighters responded.

Wednesday, Oct. 14, 9:10 pm: A call from 911 stated an alarm company had informed them that a First Avenue home alarm system had activated. Upon arrival, firefighters found no smoke or fire, and the resident could not be found. The on-call officer and 17 firefighters responded.

Friday, Oct. 16, 10:25 am: A call from 911 stated a Main Street business owner could smell smoke inside the business. Upon arrival, firefighters could not find the cause of the smell, which quickly dissipated. The on-call officer and nine firefighters responded.

Friday, Oct. 16, 2:02 pm: A call from 911 stated a small child had been struck by a motor vehicle on Main Street. Upon arrival, firefighters assisted the parents. The on-call officer and eight firefighters responded.

Saturday, Oct. 17, 4:05 pm: A fire department exercise was called to the Flin Flon airport. This was done as part of an annual requirement. The on-call officer and 13 firefighters responded to this exercise.

Saturday, Oct. 17, 4:30 pm: A call from 911 stated there was a chlorine leak at the Flin Flon water treatment plant. After their arrival, it was determined that firefighters were not required. The on-call officer and five firefighters responded.

Sunday, Oct. 18, 3:39 pm: A call from 911 stated there was a vehicle accident on the Channing road near a cemetery. Upon their arrival, it was determined that firefighters were not required.  The on-call officer and nine firefighters responded.

Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2:12 pm: A call from 911 stated the fire alarm system had been activated inside Flin Flon General Hospital. The alarm was determined to be false. The on-call officer and nine firefighters responded.

Thursday, Oct. 22, 4 pm: A call from 911 stated the alarms were ringing inside a Hiawatha Avenue residence. Upon arrival, firefighters determined the cause of the alarm was from burnt food. The fire chief and 11 firefighters responded.
