Greyhound has eliminated Saturday bus service between Flin Flon and Winnipeg.
It’s part of four service reductions in northern Manitoba that took effect March 8.
Daytime buses between Thompson and Winnipeg no longer run, though the 10 pm bus from Thompson and the 10:45 pm bus from Winnipeg will continue operating daily.
The Thompson-Cross Lake route, which had run every day except Saturday, will no longer run in either direction on Fridays and Sundays.
Service between Thompson and Gillam, which had run every day except Saturday, will no longer be offered on Sundays.
“These cancellations and reductions are being implemented because of low ridership at these times,” said Greyhound spokesperson Ashley Sears.
The service reductions come a little less than three years after Greyhound eliminated four bus routes in northern Manitoba and reduced service on two others July 1, 2012. That decision came after the Manitoba government ended an annual subsidy to the company.
The 2012 cuts included the elimination of service between Flin Flon and Thompson, and cutting the daytime bus between Flin Flon and Winnipeg.
