Flin Flon eyed as corridor starting point

Alberta’s official opposition leader is proposing a new commercial corridor to link Canada’s western provinces – with Flin Flon as the starting point in Manitoba.

Alberta’s official opposition leader is proposing a new commercial corridor to link Canada’s western provinces – with Flin Flon as the starting point in Manitoba.

Danielle Smith played up the idea while addressing businesspeople in Saskatoon last week, reports The StarPhoenix.

“Think of the possibility for Saskatchewan,” Smith said, as quoted by the newspaper. “A highway, or a railway line, or both, connecting Flin Flon through the Clearwater region to Fort McMurray [in Alberta] and on to the port in Prince Rupert in [BC].”

“I believe we have to start a national discussion on market access around creating dedicated national corridors for transportation and industrial activity across the north part of our country.”
