Flin Flon Elks plan Valentine's dinner and dance

Evening to support hall, resident

The Flin Flon Elks are hoping a Valentine’s Day dinner and dance will help keep their hall going a little longer.

The Elks Hall has been put up for sale, but with no interested buyers at the moment Elks Exalted Ruler Gord Evans says they are in need of funds to keep the month-to-month bills covered.

“As long as we have it up for sale we’ll keep it going,” said Evans. “But the costs are going up.”

Saturday’s dinner and dance will benefit more than the Elks Hall. The Elks have decided to donate a portion of liquor sales to Jeanie Gorrell, a wife and mother from Creighton who was diagnosed with cancer in late 2014.

“We decided we will donate 10 per cent of our liquor sales to Mrs. Gorrell,” said Evans. “It’s hard to say how much that will be…but we wanted to donate to the cause.”

To help raise funds for the hall, there will be a penny parade as well as 50/50 draws.

Tickets for the Elks’ Valentine’s Day social are available at The Mane Frame, the Gateway or by calling Evans at 204-687-5276.

Tickets for the dinner and dance as well as just the dance will be available at the Elks Hall on Saturday.

In addition to the Elks’ donation, there will also be a benefit meat draw for Gorrell on Saturday at the Legion.
