Flin Flon RCMP are investigating after a Manitoba Hydro meter reader suffered serious injuries in a dog attack.

Police report that around 1 pm last Thursday, June 25, the 66-year-old Flin Flon woman was attacked while in the backyard of a Centennial Crescent residence.

Speaking on Tuesday afternoon, RCMP spokesman Bert Paquet had no update on the woman’s condition other than to say she suffered serious injuries that were not considered life threatening.

The victim was transported to Winnipeg for medical care before police could obtain a statement from her, he said, meaning few details were available.

Paquet said there was no word on what would happen to the dog as police were still investigating.

Police say they have interviewed numerous witnesses. Flin Flon’s animal control officer was called in to assist with the investigation.

Serious dog attacks are considered rare in Flin Flon and area, as they are across Canada.
