It’s almost time for some spring cleaning in Flin Flon and Creighton - both communities plan to hold their spring cleanups in the coming weeks.

In Flin Flon, spring cleanup will start May 18 and will continue through the City’s established garbage day cycle, with pickups done in subsequent order. A full address list and schedule can be found on the City of Flin Flon website.

To go along with the spring cleanup, tipping fees at the Flin Flon landfill will be waived from May 15-June 7. The landfill will be open every day, open Monday-Saturday from 10 a.m.-5:45 p.m. and on Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.

During the Flin Flon cleanup, people taking part are asked to keep metal debris separate from the rest of the garbage and fridges, freezers and similar appliances will need a freon removal tag before being taken away. City garbage crews also will not pick up large structures like decks or garages and will not pick up recycle bags.

Creighton’s spring cleanup week will run from May 25-28 and dumping fees at the Creighton landfill will be waived from May 17-23. Like in Flin Flon, large structures are not covered under the cleanup - the Town of Creighton defines that as any demolitions requiring a permit (over 120 square feet in area) won't be picked up and fridges and freezers will need freon removal.

Residents hoping to dump off larger objects will need to call the Creighton Town Office at (306) 688-8253 to put in a request for assistance and to make pick-up arrangements.
