With Mayor Dennis Ballard on hand, the Flin Flon and District Chamber of Commerce officially unveiled its new Flin Flon coin at Thursday's volunteer gala. The $3 coins were the talk of the town over the weekend, having officially become currency on Friday. The Chamber and the City of Flin Flon have ordered 10,000 of the coins, which feature the City shield on one side and Flinty's likeness on the other. Chamber President Dave Kendall called the coins a unique keepsake for past and present residents of the Flin Flon area. The coins will remain legal tender at area businesses until September 2004.
