Thick smoke and red-hot flames were already spewing from a Windsor Avenue garage yesterday morning when firefighters quickly arrived on scene. An apparent electrical fire gutted the structure, causing what Fire Chief Jim Petrie estimated to be $15,000 in damages. "Garage fires are extremely dangerous fires to go to because you never know what's inside a garage," said Petrie. Firefighters ran two hoses to the burning structure and spent some 45 minutes dousing the blaze and ensuring it was completely snuffed out. Petrie noted that the garage contained gasoline, which could have easily Ñ but fortunately did not Ñ cause an explosion. Items in the garage, including tools and a lawn mower, were left charred and destroyed. Petrie conducted an investigation and determined that the fire was accidental and probably caused by an electrical problem. Twelve firefighters responded to the call at 9:49 yesterday morning.
