The nomination period for the City of Flin Flon byelection is over and five people have let their names stand for council.

Gatlin Church, Carrie Hume, Barry Kreller, Angela Simpson and Tom Therien are each on the ballot for one vacant seat on Flin Flon city council, with the vote slated to take place Oct. 28 at Flin Flon City Hall. An advance poll will take place Oct. 22, with a mobile voting station being set up to take in votes from residents of local health and seniors' housing facilities.

The winning candidate will take over the seat formerly occupied by Guy Rideout and will serve on council from this November until the next scheduled full council election in November 2022.

Voters will need identification before being able to cast their ballots - one piece of photo ID, like a driver's license, or two other documents providing proof of identity will be required.

Any voters unable to vote in person or at advance polls can apply to senior election official Katy Anderson before Oct. 25 to vote by mail.
