Seven people, including two minors, have been charged with second-degree murder in the death of a teenage boy in Pelican Narrows.
Hilliard Sewap Jr., 17, was found in need of medical care at a residence in the community last Saturday, May 2. He later died from his injuries.
Police immediately declared the death suspicious and have now ruled it a homicide.
Facing charges are:
• Marcus Sewap, 19, of Pelican Narrows (second-degree murder).
• Cody Drake Custer, 22, of Pelican Narrows (second-degree murder, breach of conditional sentence order).
• Trevor Charles, 28, of Pelican Narrows (second-degree murder, obstructing a peace officer, assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of stolen property).
• Robbie Lambert Creed Custer, 20, of Pelican Narrows (second-degree murder).
• Brandon Lee Matt McCallum, 18, of Pelican Narrows (second-degree murder).
Two minors have also been charged with second-degree murder. One of the youth faces an additional charge of failing to comply with an undertaking.
Police have issued arrest warrants both minors. They will not be identified due to the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
Though the location of four of the suspects was initially unknown, all seven were in police custody Wednesday.
The investigation is ongoing with the Pelican Narrows RCMP Detachment with assistance from the RCMP Major Crime Unit in Saskatoon, Prince Albert General Investigation Section and the Tisdale RCMP Forensic Identification Section.
