Five incidents kept the Flin Flon Fire Dept. busy last month, city council learned Tuesday. Council reviewed Fire Chief Jim Petrie's March report, which detailed the following incidents: March 9, 10:03 PM: A caller stated the smoke detectors were going off inside three apartments on Second Avenue. Upon arrival, firefighters had to break into two of the suites as no one was home. The fire chief determined the cause of the alarm was from faulty smoke detectors. The fire chief and six firefighters responded. March 16, 5:06 AM: A caller stated the fire alarms were activated inside the pumphouse behind a store at the Flintoba Shopping Centre. Upon arrival, firefighters found the pumps running for no apparent reason and called in the building maintenance supervisor. The on-call officer and nine firefighters responded. March 16, 1:10 PM: A caller requested someone check out her home on Callinan Street for mould as she had five children and was pregnant. The fire chief went to the home and found it to be substandard. The health inspector was called and did an inspection of the home the following day. March 23, 5:15 PM: A caller stated a fire alarm was coming from Waldron Avenue. The alarm was initiated by an alarm company and was determined to be false. The on-call officer and nine firefighters responded. March 29, 9:09 PM: A caller stated there was a fire at the park on Tweedsmuir Street. Upon arrival, the on-call officer found a small fire on the side that had already been extinguished by a resident in the area. The on-call officer and four firefighters responded.
