Creighton RCMP are reminding the public to exercise caution in dry conditions after a brush fire last week. Last Wednesday night at about 10 o'clock, police and firefighters responded to a brush fire between Collins Street and the end of Park Street. "The fire was extinguished quickly before it got out of hand. However, it could have gotten much worse very quickly," read an RCMP news release. "Creighton Fire Department along with the Creighton RCMP remind everyone that conditions are dry and very susceptible to fires. Firefighters have been called to several brush fires already this year. Everyone is reminded to be extra cautious when lighting or extinguishing fires." Vandalism In another matter, police are asking for the public's help in solving two recent cases of vehicle vandalism. Some time between 12:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. last Thursday, one or more people used a rock to smash the back window of a vehicle parked near Creighton Furniture and Appliance Centre. The previous week, during the early morning hours of Friday, May 14, someone smashed the windshield and rear window of a vehicle parked in the alley from 1st Street West and Elander Avenue. Also at this residence, a side window on the house was broken. Police ask anyone with information on either the brush fire or these incidents to contact them at 688-8888 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Callers to Crime Stoppers need never reveal their identity and may become eligible for a cash reward.
